SOUTH Devon motorists are being affected by the continuing works including road closures around the South Devon Highway.
There have been long queues on the ring road between Paignton and Torquay, and along the Riviera Way road out of Torquay.
Though the new road itself is now open, there is plenty of work still to do in the surrounding area.
Recommended diversions will be signposted and drivers are asked to follow their instructions.
The works are expected to continue until late February and consist of several phases.
As most of the traffic is now on the new dual carriageway local roads are quieter, this enables the completion of works on side roads in the area.
Old Newton Road will be closed between Hazelbank Roundabout and Foredown Road.
This phase is scheduled to begin on Monday, February 1 and last for seven days, and will only go ahead once the earlier works at Aller are successfully concluded.
A project spokesman said on Thursday: “We anticipate the works at the Romany Jones layby will be completed by the end of next week, however the exact date of completion is uncertain.
“Aller roundabout has now been opened, allowing traffic access to and from the A380 into and out of Kingskerswell.
“Works will continue at the Romany Jones junction (under traffic lights), but traffic will no longer be diverted through Aller Brake Road.”
On Monday, February 8 the Aller Link Road will be closed during the day with a local diversion in place.
Further phases of traffic management will take place from late in January and continue until late February at Edginswell and Riviera Way.
