There’s plenty to do in South Devon this Easter weekend, here are some of the highlights…
1. Easter weekend at Babbacombe Theatre
There is an egg-stravaganza of entertainment at the Babbacombe Theatre this Easter Bank Holiday weekend with three family shows on offer. Prepare yourselves for the Maximum 1D Experience on Saturday April 4 at 2.30pm. Liam, Henry, Connor, Daniel and Vince are not only individual lookalikes to the real One Direction boys, but they also perform with amazing sound accuracy.
Fans of swing music can enjoy a fun-filled night of tribute entertainment on Saturday evening featuring Scott Borley as Maximum Robbie Williams and Marc Dillon as Michael Bublé. The weekend is rounded off by The Country Superstars on Sunday night. This show is hosted by Sarah Jayne who has been performing as Dolly Parton for over 22 years and is Europe’s leading tribute to the Queen of Country.

2. The Climbing Project at Torquay seafront
The Climbing Project comes to Torquay seafront this weekend and is offering free climbing to all Torbay teachers.
The project is a 7.5 metre climbing wall that can be positioned in any suitable location.
The wall travels on a road going trailer and erected once on site for use. All users are encouraged to take part in the whole climbing experience so everyone is involved, not only in climbing the wall, but with rope management and the safety of the climber.
The wall can be used for a variety of different events with a variety of different instruction techniques depending on requirements.
3. Dartington Easter Fair
The inaugural Dartington Easter Fair takes place at the Shops at Dartington this weekend. The fair features local food producers and arts and crafts stalls. Activities will include an Easter egg hunt, cider bar, live music, food tasting and a bouncy castle. The fair takes place from Friday at 10am until Monday at 4pm.
4. Easter at Occombe Farm
There is an egg-cellent range of Easter activities at Occombe Farm. You can get up close and personal with cheeky little piglets, bake up a storm in the Kids Cookery School and enjoy a range of activities for the whole family.
Occombe’s programme of Easter events has some added cute-factor with the arrival of fluffy ducklings and mischievous piglets.
The whole family can make a day of it and join the Really Wild Easter Egg Hunt from Friday, where adventurous adults and children alike can search the nature trail for hidden nests and win chocolate prizes. Booking is highly recommended for some events.
5. Let’s Hang On – The Princess Theatre
Let’s Hang On – The Music of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons is at the Princess Theatre on Sunday evening. Following huge demand after their performance at the theatre last year, Let’s Hang On returns to take you on a musical journey through the history of one of the most successful bands of all time – Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.
Featuring an anthology of hit songs including Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Bye Bye Baby, December 1963 (Oh What A Night!), Walk Like A Man, Sherry, Working My Way Back To You, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Grease and many more.
Prepare for an electric atmosphere and don’t be surprised to find yourself on your feet and dancing before the night is over. For tickets call the box office on 08.
6. The Great Dartmouth Chick Hunt
The Great Dartmouth Chick Hunt is underway in the town. 12 adorable little knitted chicks, all individually numbered, have been carefully hidden amongst the window displays of shops and businesses throughout Lower St with a grand prize of a handmade chocolate egg, courtesy of Dartmouth based Saveuers on offer to the winner.
To be in with a chance to win, pick up an entry from any of the participating businesses, cafes and shops or from Dartmouth Tourist Information Centre. The cute little chicks have been knitted by Devon based business, A Little Knit Of Heaven, who sell handmade crocheted and knitted critters via a shop on Etsy. The competition runs until Sunday April 12.
7. Travelling market at Princess Gardens, Torquay
The popular continental travelling market is returning to Princess Gardens in Torquay this weekend.
The market features traders from France, Italy, Spain and the UK and all are handpicked for their experience and professionalism and the quality and popularity of their merchandise. The food is quality, fresh and authentic food, with traditional ingredients and flavours that haven’t changed for generations. It is a real taste of a traditional European market.
It is not just edible produce on sale. There will be glassware, china and pottery, Balinese crafts, perfumes, crystals, fossils and mineral specimens.The market will be in Torquay from Friday April 3 to Monday April 6.
